The Photochemistry Section of the Swiss Chemical Society is a forum for photochemists, photophysicists and photobiologists. It has around 100 members.
The Photochemistry Section aims to expand its members basic knowledge and practical expertise in photochemistry, photophysics and photobiology. It promotes the application of light in areas such as synthesis, electronics, materials science, biology and medicine. The Section is a member of the European Photochemistry Association (EPA).
The Photochemistry Section appoints two delegates to the SCS Awards Committee who review nominations for the Grammaticakis-Neumann Prize. This prize is awarded for an outstanding contribution by a young researcher to the science of photochemistry (www.scg.ch/awards/grammaticakis.html).The Photochemistry Section also organizes or co-organizes conferences, meetings and workshops.
