molQueST Conference 2021

Atomic and molecular architectures on surfaces exhibit distinct quantum properties. Their reproducible manufacturing is gaining momentum and goes far beyond the single atom and the single spin. This is due to recent experimental breakthroughs and, on the other hand, due to increasing demand from other research areas, in particular quantum science/technology and quantum computing.

« Quantum Science Emerging from Atoms and Molecules at Surfaces » builds upon breakthroughs in the art of making atomic and molecular architectures. Electronic and nuclear quantum states can now be manipulated at the single atomic level in a controlled surface environment by using either local probes or global electric and magnetic fields. This conference, as a continuation of the ones of 2014 and 2017, will address the use of quantum and spin states in atoms and molecules at surfaces for sensing, information storage, and information processing (logic) devices.

For the best poster/contributed oral presentation at the conference, the conference will award one young scientist with a prize of CHF 500, together with a certificate and a small Monte Verità memento. To be eligible for the award, the participant must be under 33 years old and either a PhD student or someone who has obtained her/his doctoral degree within the last 3 years.
