News from the Division
- NCCR Chemical Biology International Symposium: An impressive lineup of 15 international leaders in chemical biology has presented the newest and hottest developments in the field. The event organized by the NCCR Chemical Biology attracted more than 240 attendees. A report will appeared in the March issue of Chimia.
- The Life Science Switzerland (LS2) annual meeting in Lausanne was well-attended. The DMCCB session featured five talks, including excellent lectures on epigenetics (S. Kubicek) and protein functionalization (C. Hackenberger). The Novartis-sponsored poster award for Chemical Biology went to Th. Hannas for his work on “Ceramides and anoxia survival”.
- ACS meeting San Diego, 13-17 March 2016: The EFMC session was organized by the DMCCB (Design of Radioligands and Molecular Probes). It reviewed recent progress in imaging tracer optimization, in the use of LC-MS/MS for receptor occupancy studies, in vivo chemistry and tumor targeting. A great opportunity to network with our American colleagues.
- Swiss Summer School 2016 in Chemical Biology (Villars sur Ollon, August 21-25, 2016): The program is out now. Registration for PhD students opened on March 15.
- We are happy to announce that the next edition of the Frontiers in Medicinal Chemistry conference will take place in Bern, February 12-15, 2017. Save the date!
Upcoming Congresses and Symposia
- SCS Spring Meeting 2016 on Green Chemistry, also featuring the Werner Award lecture: Zürich, April 22, 2016
- DMCCB Basel Symposium on “Macrocycles in Drug and Agrochemical Discovery”, May 24, 2016. This free event is gathering five globally renowed international experts in the field and will showcase the importance of macrocycles in drug discovery and agrochemical research.
- RICT 2016: Caen, July 6-8, 2016 organized by our partner society SCT
- Swiss Summer School 2016 in Chemical Biology: A panel of internationally renowned scientists and PhD students in the field of chemical biology, who present and discuss science in the Swiss Alps. Villars-sur-Ollon, August 21-25, 2016.
The program is out now. Registration for PhD students opened on March 15. - SCS Fall Meeting 2016: Our main annual event, with close to 600 contributions, will take place at the University of Zürich, Irchel Campus, on September 15, 2016. The call for contributions is open until May 20, 2016.
- 12th Swiss Course on Medicinal Chemistry: The program is almost complete and we will soon make all speakers and tutorial supervisors public. As in previous years, we have assembled a high-calibre panel of experts, opinion leaders, and practitioners of modern medicinal chemistry who will scrutinize exciting and thought-provoking topics. News from the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC)
- XXIV EFMC International Symposium on Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC-ISMC 2016): Manchester (UK), August 28–September 1, 2016. The flagship meeting of the EFMC, which for the first time will include a plenary session dedicated to “First disclosures of Clinical Drugs”.
