Most of the top 10 world universities are American, with the exception of Britain's University of Cambridge (rank 4) and University of Oxford (10). The world's top three are Harvard University, Stanford University and University of California, Berkeley. When only European universities are considered, even seven Swiss universities rank among the 100 best, with, in addition to the aforementioned, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL), the University of Geneva, the University of Bern and the University of Lausanne. In the category of natural sciences and mathematics, three Swiss universities rank among the top 100, ETH Zürich, EPFL and the University of Geneva (cf. http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/ARWU-FIELD2008/SCI2008.htm).
