ILMAC 2013 - Competence in Process and Laboratory Technology

At its 19th edition, which was staged at Messe Basel from 24 to 27 September 2013, ILMAC, the trade fair for chemicals, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, underlined its leading role as an innovation, information and contact platform. With its new specialist focal areas and versatile accompanying program, ILMAC can report a positive final result, despite a decline in visitor numbers, and was able to satisfactorily fulfill the expectations placed on it.

SCS as a strong partner of ILMAC

The Swiss Chemical Society and its Division of Industrial & Applied Sciences (DIAC) has been a key partner and patron for ILMAC ever since it was founded. The Society actively participates in a joint stand, contributes exciting contents to the ILMAC Forum and presents both the new University of Applied Sciences Award and the Dr. Max Lüthi Award.

The 13 winner projects of the SCG-FH Award were presented at the stand in a small exhibition. One of these projects was about the development of a new method for the de-alcoholization process of beer based on a membrane technology. Prof. Wolfram Riedl from the FHNW in collaboration with the brewery Rugenbräu implemented this technology and visitors could taste the normal Rugenbräu beer versus the corresponding dealcoholized beer in a blind degustation and taste their senses. Not surprising that this offer was one of the crowd puller of the whole fair.
