2015 IUPAC-SOLVAY International Award for Young Chemists announced

Logo IUPAC-color

The 2015 IUPAC-SOLVAY International Award for Young Chemists is intended to encourage outstanding young research scientists at the beginning of their careers. The awards are given for the most outstanding Ph.D. theses in the general area of the chemical sciences, as described in a 1000-word essay. The award, which is now generously sponsored by Solvay, succeeds the IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists.

IUPAC will award up to five prizes annually. Each prize will consist of USD 1000 cash and travel expenses to the next IUPAC Congress. In keeping with IUPAC's status as a global organization, efforts will be made to assure fair geographic distribution of prizes.

The awards will be presented biennially at the IUPAC Congress. Each awardee will be invited to present a poster on his/her research and to participate in a plenary award session, and is expected to submit a review article for possible publication in Pure and Applied Chemistry.

PhosAgro/UNESCO/IUPAC research grants in green chemistry - Call for Applications

Logo IUPAC-color

Research in green chemistry and allied areas in biochemistry, geochemistry, biotechnology, ecology and healthcare give young scientists ample opportunity to demonstrate their inventiveness and provide important input to sustainable development. With this in mind, the Green Chemistry for Life Project was launched in 2013 by UNESCO’s International Basic Sciences Programme (IBSP) and PhosAgro, the largest producer of phosphate-based fertilizer in Europe, in close cooperation with IUPAC.

Second call for applications - 2014/2015

The grant programme aims to promote the implementation of innovative research projects in green chemistry by young scientists that respect the 12 principles of green chemistry. Young scientists aged 35 years or less with a PhD degree (or equivalent) in chemistry or its allied areas are invited to compete. Successful projects will be selected by an international scientific jury. Grants will be up to USD 30000 and should be awarded for research that may be completed in one year. Young scientists are invited to submit their applications for PhosAgro/UNESCO/IUPAC grants in green chemistry starting on 30 September 2014.

!! Extended DEADLINE !! The deadline for submission of applications for this second round of applications is 28 February 2015. The third round of applications will be announced in September 2015. See how to apply.
