SCS Seminar 2018/1: Catalysis Across Scales

The SCS Seminar series addresses topics of relevance in industrial R&D that are usually not covered in the academic curricula. The focus is on problem solving, actively involving the participants. The goal of the seminar series is to establish a link between academic and industrial research.
Catalysis Across Scales will embrace heterogeneous, homogeneous, and bio- catalysis and cover all stages of catalyst development from active site design to industrial process implementation. See Program for more details.
The body of instructors comprises thirteen experts, six of them from industry.
The participants will be actively involved in the program. Each lecture will be followed by an extensive discussion moderated by the session chairperson. Questions may be posted electronically during the lectures. In addition, teams of students working on practical challenges in catalysis, coached by the instructors, will be formed. The outcome of the work will be shared in short presentations.
This SCS seminar marks an excellent opportunity for scientists interested in catalysis to broaden their knowledge, to connect with experts in this field, to establish a network within the Swiss catalysis community, and to have a better understanding of industrial catalysis.

The Swiss Chemical Society transformed it's former analytical sciences education organization (DAS courses) into the SCS Academy and expanded the fields of education topics to all domains that are relevant for chemical and pharmaceutical scientists and lab technicians.

"Future of Chemical Education"2021: Registration open
Within the framework of the Spring Meeting of the Swiss Chemical Society the Division of Chemical Education organises a symposium for those involved in teaching chemistry at different levels such as Sek I, Sek II, Universities of Applied Sciences (FH) and Universities. The major objective of this symposium are the challenges related to teaching chemistry in the first year of the studies at the university.
Professors and teachers from all Swiss universities and also external speakers will share their view, experience, strategies and solutions gained and developed while dealing with the chemistry courses for a large body of students, who just recently left the high schools and commenced their studies at the university.
The event will provide ideas and best practice in theoretical, practical and experimental chemical education and targets qualified teachers from secondary school on upwards and will take place as an online symposium.
