In February 2014 four conferences in the field of drug discovey and medicinal chemistry take place in Dubai. As an SCS member you profit from a 10% discount on the registration fee. Please refer to this message and your status as an SCS member when registering.

It is our great pleasure to announce the latest editions of our very successful series of conferences; the “6th International Conference on Drug Discovery and Therapy” and the “3rd Biotechnology World Congress” in Dubai UAE. This time there will be two new events taking place in parallel to these conferences, namely the “1st Global Cardiovascular Translational Medicine Conference” and the “1st Global Diabetes and Obesity Translational Medicine Conference” with Dr. Ferid Murad, Nobel Laureate and Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, FRS as the conferences Co-Presidents. These events are being organized in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE. The dates of the four events are given below:

  • 6th International Conference on Drug Discovery and Therapy
    February 10th - 12th, 2014
  • 3rd Biotechnology World Congress
    February 10th - 12th, 2014
  • 1st Global Cardiovascular Translational Medicine Conference
    February 12th - 13th, 2014
  • 1st Global Diabetes and Obesity Translational Medicine Conference
    February 12th - 13th, 2014

These events will be unique in promoting the translational nature of modern biomedical, biotech and pharmaceutical research, with both scientists and clinicians associated with scientific and medical research and application, attending.  The conferences will not only feature recent findings from leading industrial, clinical and academic experts in the field, in the form of lectures and posters but are also aimed to provide a platform to all the leading clinicians.

Registration Deadline: September 14, 2012

In modern drug discovery, it is important that the Medicinal Chemist understands how to balance potency and ADME properties in order to provide high quality compounds for progression to clinical studies.

This short course will be a mixture of talks and worked exercises designed to further the understanding of DMPK. The course will include: Outlines of the key DMPK in vitro assays: physicochemistry for ADME; Oral drug absorption; Fundamentals of drug distribution; drug metabolizing enzymes; drug transport proteins; basic PK principles and human PK prediction; PKPD relationships.

Job Offer at ETH Zurich: Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Organic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences (www.chab.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for an open position at the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry as

Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Organic Chemistry

Successful candidates are expected to establish a successful, internationally recognized and externally funded research program. A focus on organic chemistry in the broadest sense is desirable. Areas of interest include analytical chemistry, methods and/or target-oriented synthesis, prebiotic (origin of life) chemistry, chemical biology, and physical-organic chemistry.

At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are expected. Collaborations with colleagues within and outside the ETH are encouraged. Generous annual support for students and supplies will be provided by the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry to supplement external support obtained for her / his research program.

Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to other top international universities.

Please apply online: www.facultyaffairs.ethz.ch
