The Swiss Chemical Society (SCS) organised a four-day conference about energy and raw materials at the ILMAC fair in Basel. About 250 scientists and lay people participated. They discussed controversial issues like biofuels and white biotechnology.

Over 600 scientists met at the annual Fall Meeting of the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS), which took place at EPFL. Three scientists were awarded renowned SCS prizes.

Die Naturwissenschaften erhalten in der Matur mehr Gewicht. Die SCG erwartet davon eine Stärkung des naturwissenschaftlichen Allgemeinwissens in der Bevölkerung und des Nachwuchses in naturwissenschaftlichen Berufen, u.a. jenen der Chemie.

Die SCG nimmt ab sofort Eingaben für ihre Preise 2008 entgegen. Damit prämiert sie ein Lebenswerk, Nachwuchsforscher, eine Arbeit der angewandten Chemie und eine Fachhochschul-Diplomarbeit.

The Polymer Group Switzerland (PGS) has merged with the Swiss Chemical Society and will continue its work as the Polymers and Colloids Division of the Swiss Chemical Society.
