Am letzten Samstag wurden an der ETH Zürich die besten 13 von ungefähr 240 Nachwuchschemikerinnen und -chemikern aus der ganzen Schweiz und Liechtenstein mit Medaillen ausgezeichnet.

Gold gewannen Boris Stolz (Kantonsschule Hohe Promenade, ZH) aus Pfaffhausen, Kenneth Atz (Allgemeine Gewerbeschule, BS) aus Basel, Joséphine Pratiwi (Gymnase de Morges, VD) aus Morges und Patrik Willi (Kantonsschule im Lee, ZH) aus Neftenbach. Die Jugendlichen massen sich während einer intensiven Finalwoche in theoretischer und praktischer Chemie. Die vier sicherten sich damit automatische das Ticket für die Internationale Chemie-Olympiade (IChO) 2013 in Moskau (Russland). Da Kenneth Atz an der Teilnahme verhindert ist, wird der nächstplatzierte Mario de Capitani (Gymnasium Neufeld, BE) aus Bern automatisch für die IChO 2013 qualifiziert.

Der Vorstand der SCNAT hat Professor Christophe Copéret für eine Amtsdauer von drei Jahren gewählt.

Anlässlich seiner Sitzung im Dezember 2012 hat der Vorstand Christophe Copéret, Professor für anorganische Chemie an der ETH Zürich, in das sechsköpfige Präsidium der «Platform Chemistry» gewählt. Diese Ersatzwahl erlaubt der Plattform ihr ausgedehntes Netzwerk zu stärken und zu verbreitern. Die «Platform Chemistry» möchte Christoph Copéret herzlich willkommen heissen und sich gleichzeitig bei Jay Siegel für sein Engagement während seiner Amtsperiode (2010-2012) bedanken.

It is the aim of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences to advance the dialogue between science and society. With the «Prix Média», they support journalists and researchers who make complex subjects accessible to a wider audience. The amount of CHF 10'000.- is awarded annually in each of four disciplines: human and social sciences, natural sciences, medicine and engineering sciences.


Conditions of participation

The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences price media publications of outstanding quality that are easily understandable and have been published in a Swiss medium appearing on a regular basis. Full consideration is given to publications that appeared between 16 June 2012 and 15 June 2013, and closing date is on 15 June 2013.
