SCS Anniversary Game Competition: Create your own Chemistry Game App and win 1'000 CHF

Create your own chemistry game app and participate in the SCS Anniversary Game Competition. The three finalist (max. 2 persons per team) will be invited to the Swiss Chemistry Science Night in Bern on September 18, 2026, to present their games to the audience in a live demo. The audience will vote on the winner.

Format
From a simple 2D one-person-game offline app to a complex multi-player online game, anything is possible. However, the game must be accessible free of charge.
The usage of AI such as ChatGPT and no-code app development tools like lovable.dev is permitted and even encouraged, in order to keep the effort involved to a minimum.

Evaluation Criteria
Functionality, creativity, and surprise of the game as well as a compelling presentation will score high points.

Prize Money
The winning teams will get CHF 1’000, 750 and 500.

Swiss Chemistry Science Night, Casino Bern, September 18, 2026, 17.00-23.00h

The “Swiss Chemistry Science Night” is the official event marking the 125th anniversary of the SCS and also serves to honor the 2026 SCS award winners. In addition, we will look back on our history and ahead to the next 125 years. A delicious dinner will round off the program and ensure that the event stays in the memories of all 150 invited guests. Take this opportunity and, as a finalist in the competition, be part of this exciting event!

Chemistry Travel Award 2026: Application open until March 31

Through the «Chemistry Travel Award», contributions towards the cost of participation at an international conference in the chemical sciences are granted to selected PhD students. The award is sponsored by the Platform Chemistry of the SCNAT and the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS).

You can win a contribution of CHF 1000.- to actively present at an international conference.

Application criteria

Applicants must be doing her/his PhD at a Swiss institution at the time of the deadline (March 31, 2026)

  • The conference must be related to chemistry (any domain of chemistry)
  • Active participation (poster or talk)
  • Conference must take place outside Switzerland
  • Conference must last at least 3 days
  • Conference must take place between May 15, 2026 and May 14, 2027
  • Deadline for application is March 31, 2026 (23:59)

Submission requirements

  • Conference abstract (2 pages max)
  • CV with a list of publications (2 pages max)
  • Signed recommendation letter from PhD advisor (pdf)

Winners must present the certificate of attendance within 60 days after the conference to receive the reimbursement.
