About the The Essential Chemical Industry

The book, The Essential Chemical Industry (ECI) is already one of the most highly respected and up-to-date educational resources about the chemical industry.  Now this innovative web-hosted edition, with easy cross-referencing and drill-down capability, achieves new levels of access for the student, researcher and industrial chemist alike.

It is produced by CIEC Promoting Science, formerly the Chemical Industry Education Centre, an independent non-profit organization in the Department of Chemistry, University of York, UK.

Written by members of the Centre’s staff, and with the advice of over 200 experts in the field, the site is systematically reviewed and updated to ensure that it remains relevant and authoritative.

How to use this site

As with the book, you can simply dive in and enjoy a journey of exploration - OR you can research information with more precision.  Follow the link for some useful tips on finding your way around the site.

+41  41 349 35 22).

Salary Survey for Chemists working in Switzerland

150826 SalarySurveyIn collaboration with the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) the SCS Division of Industrial & Applied Chemistry (DIAC) organized a salary and compensation survey for chemists working in Switzerland. A wide range of compensation factors like age, gender, education, working region, working experience, managing level, and others were analyzed and aligned to fix and variable compensation shares. The team around Prof. Christian Grund of the RWTH Aachen (Germany) analyzed 265 surveys with data records from 2014 including 102 answers from SCS Members.

The results reveal correlations between the main factors of common compensation models but show also some interesting new findings. Please note that the details of the study are available to survey participants only. The next survey will probably rolled out in early 2016 and if you like to be part of it you can register as an SCS and DIAC member respectively.

To become a SCS member, please fill in the form on http://scg.ch/membership.
To upgrade your existing membership to a DIAC membership, please update your profile on http://scg.ch/login.

SCCER Annual Conference 2015: Efficiency of Industrial Processes

150918 SCCER-EIPETH Zurich, AudiMax (HG F 30),
Rämistrasse 101, 8092 Zürich

18 Sep 2015, 10:15-15:15

The vision of the Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research on Efficiency of Industrial Processes (SCCER EIP) is to enhance the energy efficiency of the Swiss process industry.

Research and development within the SCCER EIP addresses systems at different scales, from individual process units to integrated processes up to integrated sites connected with their surroundings, with a focus on technological innovation but also addressing organisational and managerial
aspects.

New concepts and processes, innovations and demonstration facilities are being developed, tested and evaluated to enable the industry sector to reach its energy efficiency targets according to the “Energy Strategy 2050” for Switzerland and to improve its competitiveness.

The Annual Conference 2015 will provide an opportunity for all participants to discuss the potentials for energy efficiency in the process industry and to get an update about scientific highlights from the research activities.

Main topics:

  • Tandem presentations on industryrelevant topics from research and industrial partners
  • Poster session with scientific highlights from the work packages
  • Networking lunch and apéro

For the detailed program, thge registration and contact dedails please see the website or the pdf flyer.
