EYCN launched the video competition 'Chemistry Rediscovered' 2025

We are happy to announce the launch of the 5th edition of our video competition Chemistry Rediscovered, which is supported by the Wilkinson Charitable Foundation. All young chemists and interested people of 12-35 years old are invited to send in videos on the theme “Chemistry in the Kitchen: Where Science Sizzles”. The best videos will be awarded wonderful prizes and the main prize will be a trip to the EuChemS Chemistry Congress in Antwerp in 2026!

Chemistry Europe Travel Grant Helps Young Chemists Go Abroad

Early-career researchers in chemistry now have a new chance to expand their international experience. The Chemistry Europe Travel Grant, first launched in 2024 and updated in 2025, offers €2,000 to support research stays of one to two months in another country.

The grant aims to build global scientific networks and help young scientists grow their careers through collaboration abroad. Eligible applicants must have earned their PhD at least two years ago, be a member of a Chemistry Europe society, and plan to conduct research in a country different from their current one.

Applications are open from July until November 1, 2025. To apply, candidates must submit their CV, a motivation letter outlining their project and host lab, and a list of five key publications through their national Chemistry Europe society. Selection will be based on the scientific quality and feasibility of the proposed project.

Among the past recipients is Attila Kormányos, a Senior Researcher from the University of Szeged in Hungary and a member of the Magyar Kémikusok Egyesülete (MKE), who was awarded the Chemistry Europe Travel Grant Certificate. The picture shows Péter Szalay, President of MKE with his certificate.

Approach
Four regional clusters, each consisting of a managing team, mentors and mentees, will be established. Each cluster will define the activities, one per semester, at its “kick off meeting”. At the end of the year, the cluster will meet for a closing event.
