40 Years of the Homeobox@Biozentrum

lt is now 40 years' since two back-to-back publications in Gell reported the conservation of the Homeobox DNA sequence from insects to vertebrates. This discovery was made at the Biozentrum in Basel by the groups of Walter Gehring and Eddy De Robertis. For many of us, this discovery represents one of the most stunning findings in the field of developmental studies and it has opened up developmental genetics to many different model organisms. We will celebrate this discovery and are organizing a one-day meeting at the new Biozentrum in Basel
