The SCS Division of Industrial & Applied Chemistry (DIAC) awards the DIAC Fellowship 2026 to
Dr. Tomáš Šmejkal, Syngenta Crop Protection AG
for his outstanding contributions in process chemistry, catalysis and high-throughput automation. Tomas delivered (and is still delivering) science and technology at the highest level, both internally within projects with high impact, and to the broader community, amassing 22 patents as inventor, 3 book chapters and 27 peer-reviewed publications.
The award ceremony took place at the DIAC Member Assembly at Bachem AG in Bubendorf on June 15 and he will be recognized also at the Swiss Chemistry Science Night in Bern on September 18, 2026.

About the DIAC Fellowship Program
The nomination as DIAC Fellow is granted to distinguished scientists from Industry for significant contributions and innovations over many years in the field of industrial chemistry and chemical process technology in Switzerland. The yearly award is sponsored by the Division of Industrial & Applied Chemistry (DIAC) of the Swiss Chemical Society and consists of a prize sum of CHF 1’000 as well an invitation to give lectures at Swiss academic and industrial institutions.
Submit your nominations for the DIAC Fellowship 2027 to by September 30, 2026. The dossier should include a nomination letter (self-nominations are not accepted), the CV and a list of the most important publications of the candidate.
