On April 10th the mentors and mentees of the BeNeFri Cluster of the SCS Mentoring Program had the opportunity to visit METAS, the Federal Institute on Metrology, located in Bern.

The day started with a session on the application process with a special focus on tips & tricks to prepare for or to use during a job interview. The presentation was given by members of the HR team at METAS.

Then the mentees had the opportunity to exercise their mock interview skills by performing one interview with a mentor and assisting another mentee's interview. To experience the interview process from these two different perspectives gave the mentees valuable insights into different traits that will be observed by the interviewer, such as how questions are answered and body language.

After the lunch break, the mentors and mentees had the opportunity to visit METAS. First, the chemical labs were showed: they focus on food chemistry and work closely with the border patrol. In these labs, METAS focuses on quantifying specific ingredients, such as caffeine, cocoa, and fat content.
Then, we had the opportunity to visit the other departments of METAS. A highlight was the room, which has no echoes, to calibrate microphones.
We are deeply grateful to the METAS team for the fantastic program and the visit they organized.
Stay tuned for more news from the Mentoring Program as the end of this class is approaching.👀
