On Friday 15.05.2025, another successful event took place at the HEIA in Fribourg. Two main topics were tackled: life-work balance βš–οΈ and ethics in scienceπŸ§ͺ.

For the first part of the workshop, mentors and mentees discussed strategies on how to balance work and life. A focus was set particularly on how to manage career ambitions while having a family. We were lucky to hear the testimony of two women who work in chemistry and who were able to raise a family while holding a position of responsibility in their company/institution: Dr. Elodie BRUN from dsm-firmenich and Dr. Emmanuelle Arias-Roth from Agroscope. Starting with presenting their story, an interesting discussion was held between mentors and mentees.

After a short break, it was time to discuss ethics in science, starting from concrete cases brought by mentors and mentees. The exchange was really open and helped everybody to shine light on different situations which happened in the scientific community and reflect on how to avoid misconduct in order to create a more ethical scientific environment.

Stay tuned for the cluster's last event, which will take place in June! πŸ“…
