Over the past few years, the SCS Academy has developed a diverse and high-quality continuing education program covering various fields of the chemical and pharmaceutical sciences. Numerous courses have been successfully conducted over the years, offering our members and other professionals the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, learn about new developments, and exchange ideas with colleagues in the field.
However, over the past 2–3 years, we have observed a significant decline in demand for our Academy courses. This also applies to newly developed courses and those covering current topics. Despite great dedication in putting together the program and recruiting proven expert speakers, several events could no longer be held due to insufficient registration numbers.
The SCS Board discussed this development in detail at its last meeting and decided to realign the continuing education offerings starting in 2027. In the future, the SCS Academy will focus on a smaller number of established courses that have proven successful in recent years and have consistently generated significant interest.
This realignment marks the end of a long and successful phase for the SCS Academy in its current form. We would therefore like to extend our heartfelt thanks, in particular, to all the speakers who have supported us over the years with their expertise, their time, and their great dedication. Without their willingness to share their knowledge with our community, the diverse Academy program would not have been possible.
Our thanks also go to all participants who attended our courses and contributed to the further development of our continuing education offerings through their interest and feedback.
Even though the range of courses will be smaller in the future, our goal remains to offer our members and the chemical community relevant and high-quality opportunities for professional development and exchange.
