Open Position at Uni Basel: Professor in Nanomaterials
The Department of Chemistry of the University of Basel in Switzerland is inviting applications for a
Professorship in Nanomaterials.
The Department shares with the University the focal areas nano- and life sciences as well as energy research. Interdisciplinary and interdepartmental research approaches are particularly supported by the Swiss Nanoscience Institute.
Your position
An ideal research profile should complement both the Department's portfolio and the NCCR Molecular Systems Engineering initiative. He or she will be engaged in the self-management of the Department, and will contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The position can be filled either at the assistant (tenure-track) or the associate professor level. The University of Basel has an established program for career progression allowing promotion to associate and full professor upon successful evaluation.

The successful candidate will have an internationally recognized research program, an outstanding publication record, strong communication and teaching skills. We are particularly interested in exceptional candidates developing, characterizing, and exploring inorganic nanomaterials.

Formation continue pour les enseignantes du secondaire II
Der Kongress richtet sich an Lehrpersonen der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik der Sekundarstufe II sowie an Interessierte aus anderen Fachbereichen und Lehrstufen. Das Programm, bestehend aus Vorträgen und Workshops, bietet den Teilnehmenden die Möglichkeit, Verbindungen zwischen Robotik und Wissenschaftsbildung zu entdecken sowie über die Fach- und Sprachgrenzen hinaus Kontakte zu knüpfen und sowohl mit Kolleginnen und Kollegen als auch renommierten internationalen und nationalen Wissenschaftern Ideen auszutauschen.

Teilbereich Chemie und Robotik
Die Chemie liefert ständig neue und immer besser entwickelte Materialien, um den Bedürfnissen der Robotik gerecht zu werden: leichte, widerstandsfähige, biomimetische Materialien, immer kleinere leistungsfähige Batterien - Materialien, die über die Grenzen der Robotik hinausgehen. Umgekehrt kann die Robotik die Chemie automatisieren, kontinuierlich Analyseresultate liefern, kontinuierliche chemische Reaktionen durchführen, oder unter extremen chemischen Bedingungen arbeiten: Die Beziehung zwischen Chemie und Robotik ist also sehr eng. Die Forscher erschaffen sogar « molekulare Motoren », Verbindungen aus Atomen, die wie Roboter arbeiten. Chemie und Robotik, eng miteinander verbunden.
Call für Workshop Beiträge
Interessierte Lehrpersonen, die gerne einen Workshop zu Robotik, Automation oder Big Data im Bereich Chemie anbieten möchten, melden sich bei der SCG über oder direkt bei den Organisatoren via .
Neben Spesenrückvergütungen wird ein Honorar für die Durchführung der Workshops ausbezahlt. Möglich sind Arbeitsblöcke von 45min oder 90min.

SCS Fall Meeting 2018: Call for Abstracts
September 7, 2018, EPFL Lausanne.
The SCS Fall Meeting offers a unique opportunity for all members of the community to share the results of their research initiatives. It also stimulates the exchange of ideas between all generations of chemists, often creating the seeds for new projects and collaborations.
The call for abstracts is open and you can apply for a poster or an oral presentation until May 13, 2018.
